What are the requirements to get a FAA Student Pilot License?
To get a FAA Student Pilot License, you must meet the following requirements:
- Age: Be at least 16 years old, or 14 if you only plan to pilot gliders or balloons.
- English proficiency: Be able to read, write, and speak English
- Application: Submit an application for the Student Pilot License through the FAA's Integrated Airman Certification and Rating Application (IACRA) system. Reference the FAA's New User Guide for Student Pilots here.
A student pilot license is designed for the initial training period of flying. The student pilot must have a flight instructor present, but can solo after appropriate instructor endorsements.
